Thank you for commenting, Anna. I believe the reason we don’t know if having heritage Asian language products works is because there isn’t any right now. Kids do want to fit in like everyone else, I agree, but at some point the reality of being an immigrant will strike them. People want to fit in but also stand out. I think it’s up to how creative artists can be with their heritage language that determines how attractive it turns out to be for Asian immigrants. It may always end up being so successful that Asian languages become mainstream, like how Spanish has achieved with the song Despacito.
